While somewhat dubious about the idea, I put my resume on Hotjobs (Monster keeps giving me errors--may not like the Mac). The first reply was from a firm wanting me to do direct mail through them. I expressed reservations, and actually got a thoughtful response.
This morning's electronic post, however, gives me real pause. My skills and experience are in advanced networking (as in router and ISP design), certain aspects of security, and clinical medicine. For what, then, was I solicited?
"Your resume was found on the Internet by our innovative candidate search engine and we thought you may be interested in an exciting Sales opportunity with Service Corporation International (SCI). SCI is the largest provider of funeral, cremation and cemetery services in North America... As the industry leader, SCI continues to blaze new trails through corporate innovations and revolutionary services in quality, value and care."
Doesn't a trail-blazing crematorium sound out of control?
